9 gets a 4 in my book

Well, I was all excited to see the new film 9. I walked out going ho-hum. Sure it was a visual feas, but without any real bite for story or characters given what appeared to be a mature plotline. Basically, it was action sequence after action sequence with some very cliche "machines that humans create destroy humans" and the dialog was flat and uninspired -- even by a great cast of actors. By the time the logic of what 9 and his companions are, it's already assumed. Atop that, while the steampunky images were great, the convoluted editing/scenes -- especially for action -- often made it just a blur on the screen. Ah well, I'm sure the masses will love it, but I really don't think it was anything special, even at the bargain matinee price.
